First, thanks for setting up a website like this.
Second, how does one post information on this site?
Third, you need more precise info on alternatives to CPAP. While still effective, CPAP is not accepted by patients very well. Oral Mandibular Advancement Appliances have been show to be as efficient as CPAP and MORE readily accepted by patients. Unfortunately the medical community is still ignorant on these options. I was told when diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and unable to use the CPAP, that there were NO options! It took me a while to find out differently and within ONE day, my sleep apnea RDI went from 27 to 2. This changed my life! I was able to drive again after 5 years of NOT driving longer than 10 minutes.
Appreciate any assistance you can give through the website to educate patients.

Need Help w?CPAP settings
written by Beth DonahueWeedman, June 16, 2010
Hi Everybody
I wish I had about 5 days to really scour this website, but my question is this: I have sleep apnea, I'm fairly certain. Wake up 8-10 times a night literally gasping for air. Its terrifying. I do NOT have Insurance, and cannot begin to afford a sleep test. A close friend of mine's ex left a CPAP machine that she got in the divorce, and she gave it to me. Its a Devilbiss, and I found that I can't even get a new MASK without a prescription. At least in Tennessee. So. Disclaimer Disclaimer Disclaimer, is there a website or a direction you could send me to find out if there even IS a generic setting for this thing? I'm sure the answer is there is no generic setting, but I'm going to have to try this thing because I'm more scared of dying during the night than dying because my CPAP settings are wrong. Thats just the decision Ive made. If anyone can help me, great. If not, please don't lecture and chastise me for trying.
Thank you very much in advance, Beth
