I’m a nurse.
There are many cause of sleep apnea. One is being overweight. You can have an obstruction in your breathing tubes. My son has sleep apnea and sleep with what is called a CPAP. This is a little machine that has a long tube with a tiny mask that covers the mouth and nose. The machine forces air into your lungs. Sounds bad but isn’t at all. Sleep Apnea is very serious, you stop intermittently breathing during the night. This causes extreme tiredness during the day and affect your life. The most serious is that you may not be able to recover from a point of not breathing. A sleep study which you may have already done diagnoses the problem. If you do have sleep apnea then you should have been prescribed the CPAP. If weight is the problem than losing the weight get rid of the Sleep Apnea

My husband has that and his doctor said most of the people that have it is due to being over weight. Why you ask? because when you go to bed and lay on your back everything inside your body relaxes toward the mattress, which means the same for your throat and nose and causes it to be hard for you to breath. My husband has to use a sleep apnea machine. It has a hose w/ a mask at the end of it that you put on over your face and it constantly blows air into you all night, which also eliminates snoring too. That’s the best part! ha ha
