Is Sleep Apnea causing my trouble falling asleep?
I’m 19 and i think i have sleep apnea. i know i hold my breath in my sleep, i don’t do it every night but when i do it happens a lot over the course of one night. i haven’t been officially diagnosed, my family cant afford it but I’m pretty sure i do.
i seem to have trouble falling asleep no matter how tired i am even if i take something to help me go to sleep. but i could take cat naps all day long because I’m so sleepy all the time yet i cant fall asleep at night. ((and no its not the naps that keep me from falling asleep at bedtime, i didn’t say i DID take the naps i said i COULD.))
so my question is, does my body know something is wrong when i sleep deeply and trying to prevent me from going to sleep?
You know what you need to do… you need to consult with your doctor to determine if this is the case and determine what options you have.

It’s probably psychological. You get all kinds of anxiety when you go to bed because you know you’re not sleeping well. If you get a sleep study you’ll probalby be surprised how often you’re "holding you’re breath". More than you think – you’re just not aware of it. The reason you’re catnaps aren’t helping is that you’re never getting any deep sleep. If you have apnea you won’t without a cpap machine.
Go to the doc, get sleep study, get a cpap and get some sleep already. Until you do you’ll never make up the sleep deficit because you’re unable (physically) to sleep.
