No, I do not think diabetes can cause sleep apnea. But it can make it worse. I have found that diabetes does make it harder to get a restful nights sleep. I have been very fortunate that I think I solve with wonderful diet supplement. For a few of my friends the supplement greatly reduce the impact of sleep apnea to where they are not require to wear a mask at night.

Best Wishes

Recent studies are finding that many people who have type 2 diabetes also have sleep apnea. Anyone with type 2 diabetes should be checked out for this. In fact, they are now suggesting that anyone with one problem be checked out for the other.
References :
Diabetes Health Magazine latest issue.

No, the two are not connected. Anyone can develop sleep apnea. Get a check up done and make sure it is not caused by a sinus or allergy problem or deviated septum. Severe sleep apnea can be dangerous.
References :
diabetic 17 years.

No, diabetes does not cause sleep apnea, but they frequently co-exist in the same patient. Are you overweight? Not everyone with sleep apnea is overweight, but carrying extra pounds does seem to cause the disorder in many persons. Excess weight is also frequently associated with diabetes.

Hope this helped some...

No. More than likely you inherited it from one of your parents. You probably have had sleep apnea for a longer time but it went undiagnosed. Very loud snoring is usually the big sign but, since a lot of people snore it gets ignored. The longer sleep apnea is undiagnosed the more problems there will be. Diabetes is caused from your body's inability to make or handle insulin.
References :
CPAP user
