Where can I obtain machine for obstructive sleep apnea in Thailand?

Have been diagnosed with osa following sleep test at bangkok pattaya hospital in Pattaya. Need now to obtain automatic machine. Hospital cannot supply and their agencies are very slow.

I dont know exactly where you could get one in Thailand. My suggestion would be to try and get one online. If you have a prescription for one it should not be a problem. Try looking up Durable Medical Equipment Providers Online and see what you can find. You can also try CPAP.com. Respirionics and Resmed are both good units. Good luck.

anyone experience this at all and have any clues?

Deep deprivation affects many areas of your body and can result in fatigue, memory problems, and can lead to illnesses such as heart disease and stroke. If your sleep is interrupted by frequent periods in which you do not breathe for up to a minute at a time, you may be suffering from sleep apnea, one of the most undiagnosed and untreated Sleep Disorders. Sleep apnea is a very treatable disorder. The treatment involves the use of CPAP machines. These machines are used in conjunction with a Sleep Apnea Mask that allows air to be gently pushed into the airways so that a person can sleep without interruption. Since loss of sleep can affect how well the immune system fights illnesses and diseases, a full night of uninterrupted sleep is necessary to maintain good health. We have all the CPAP supplies you need to successfully treat sleep apnea and feel better.

How long does it take for you to feel a difference when using a CPAP machine for sleep apnea?

I started using my machine last night and I’m just wondering how long it usually takes before you could feel rested when you wake up.

it’ll take you at least a month to get used to it (like a habit), it’s just unnatural to have air blowing in your face, BUT make note when 2 months is up, you should feel better (less tired) & will probably sleep less but feel well rested,
HANG IN THERE
if in 2 months you don’t feel better, call your doctor ASAP, because something is Wrong, maybe pressure or Leakage from your mask

If you have a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, how often should it be adjusted?

I got mine four years ago but have not had an additional night at the sleep lab since then. Is this something that needs to be periodically monitored or should I just let sleeping (snoring?) dogs lie?

I think this is one of those "no news is good news" kind of things. As a fellow sufferer, I know that the pressure setting on your CPAP was prescribed by your doctor based on the resuslts of your sleep lab experience. As long as the machine is providing the desired results (no snoring or apnea), then I’m pretty sure nothing else need be done. Obviously, you need to maintain the filters–clean or replace, as the case may be.

this is for those that have sleep apnea. How do you get used to the cpap machine?

I am having a sleep apnea test done soon and may have to use the machine. I had the sleep apnea long time ago but I couldn’t get used to the machine so I sent it back.

Sleep Apnea Machines and masks have come along way in the last 2 years. 1st make sure that the home care co. that is setting up the equipment will work with you, if they aren’t willing to, go to another company! You are the customer and they CAN get you comfortable with something. There are so many different masks & nasal pillows available, not to mention what they are doing with the machines now! Puritan Bennett has a machine that is about the size of the 1st personnal CD players they came out with in the 80’s, and Respironics has machines that work with your breathing pattern!(check out their web sites)
This is something you need to be pro-active about. Lack of sleep does so many bad things to your body- poor memory, weight gain, depression, etc. Not to mention what the lack of oxygen in your body when you don’t breath at night does to your brain and heart.
Good Luck!

Can you improve performance of the sleep apnea CPAP machine on your own, without docs’ help?

My brother has been prescribed the CPAP and can’t tell much difference in his sleep. He is due to go for a checkup to the sleep clinic and doesn’t want to tell them this because he’s afraid they will make him go through another $1000 worth of sleep tests to adjust settings or something.

So if he can make the CPAP thing work better without having to tell the docs, it will help his health and checking account. Anybody know about this?

Thanks =D

Some doctors will just up the pressure based on the symptoms. They can also use what is called an autopap. The cpap sense what the body needs and give the proper pressure. That can be his nightly machine or the DME company can loan it for a week to see what the setting should be.

Also if he just started, it may take a few weeks to a month to see any results.

Would A Sleep Apnea Machine Help For Asthma And Other Breathing Problems?

The C-pap or Bi-pap are the machines known as "sleep apnea machines". They are for treating sleep apnea and other sleeping disorders. They will not do any good for other respiratory diseases.

Sleep Apnea….Better than Bipolar Disorder.

Demonstrating my CPAP (Continuous Pressure Airway Pump) that I use at night to protect me from sleep apnea. Kind of just a fun video in case any of you think I’m like not vulnerable or whatever, and definitely if you know someone who has the disorder, let me know (I just started on it.)

And yes, I know I sound stupid but I have nothing better to do on a Monday night when homework is lacking :) And in case you’re wondering, yes, SLEEP APNEA IS BETTER THAN BIPOLAR. DON’T ASK WHY ;)
